Shaw & Sons found out very quickly that the old way of setting steel dowels in expansion joints was time consuming and therefore expensive. To solve this problem they invented Speed Dowel, which is now the most effective way of aligning and installing reinforced steel expansion joint slip dowels and has become the industry standard. Speed Dowel is in use worldwide.
Oceansafe™ is a system developed and built by Shaw & Sons to meet the growing awareness of the environmental impact of Storm water runoff in metropolitan and urban environments. All design professionals recognize the need for a system that will contain storm water at the site. Storm water that is allowed to run-off into the storm drain system picks up and transports large amounts of suspended solids, harmful contaminants and often bacterial waste and carries it into our steams, rivers and lakes. In southern California the storm water runoff often goes directly to the Ocean. Recognizing the need for an effective, economically viable solution Shaw & Sons developed and patented a system that not only contains the storm water runoff on site but is also durable and aesthetically pleasing. The interest in this product in California has been remarkable and as a result Shaw & Sons has set up a new company to market this product. Our new company is called Oceansafe™.
